Review on AmScope HL150 Gooseneck Microscope Illuminator by Greg Anderson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

100% recommendation - stereo microscopes

I've been using this light for over a year - it still works. Bought to replace an LED headlight. It was just as bright, but the light was very blue. I photograph mineral samples 5-15 times; the blue LED blurs the color of the minerals. The device is heavy. Almost 10 pounds. The base stays in place while the goosenecks adjust to the appropriate pitch. Because less power is required, the base unit of an LED light moves before the light can be adjusted, which is very annoying. The block consists of two parts: a transformer and a gooseneck assembly. It is attached using a collar that is placed on the tube for the light source. It is held in place with two thumbscrews that hold perfectly when finger tightened. The device has an audible but not annoying fan. The light is regulated by a rheostat from zero to very bright. The display claims a color temperature of 3200K. I think the temperature is much higher when turned on at full power. I think more than 6000K. Photos require a little color correction. I'm surprised there aren't any other reviews. This is a great unit and great value for money. I have no complaints at all. EDIT: The 2017 block fell off the bench - hmm. . .still works fine. Now I'm ordering another one for the second scope.
