I have several air purifiers as I'm allergic to cats moving from room to room so I basically have one air purifier in each room. I love that it has a pre-filter to catch cat hair, a very nice aspect. On my others I open them to change the filter and it's covered in cat hair and you have to throw it all away. This one is fairly quiet, albeit a bit noisy at higher speeds. I mostly use it on the lowest speed in our fairly large living room. The fan seems to hum a bit instead of making a smooth noise, although that's not a factor for me. It is stable and does not tip over. It sounds weird, but I like that the buttons are on top, on a white faceplate with English words underneath. I have two that have nothing but symbols on the black bezel and I have a terribly hard time remembering which symbol does what on which machine. This cleaner works for me. I leave it running most of the day as it's in a room I get in and out of all the time. I have this faint sniffle that lasts most of the day and it has lessened since I put it in the room. It's not next to my kitchen so I can't tell you about cooking smells. It sits next to a row of sliders and on the back I have a tree that I'm allergic to and it seems to keep it from getting in and causing a runny nose.
