Review on JBL Xtreme Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker (Red) by Lindsey Lewis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Buy it only for replacement under the warranty before the end of one year.

I was thrilled like many others and bought this speaker because of the amazing performance and reliable battery. Guess what - the battery lasts no more than a year. My first Xtreme was bought in 2015 only to die after 6 months of indoor use. After several problems with customer service, I finally got a replacement. I found that the new device has trouble connecting to the Macbook Pro and has feedback noise. Remember that the first speaker didn't have any of these problems. Then I called JBL support - no answer. The FAQ on the JBL website states that resetting requires holding down certain keys. Well it bricked up my block. I'm fed up and broke out of this crap #. Photos are attached. I have to admit, the speaker cabinet is solid. I slammed it on the ground 5 times and with the help of the legs it finally fell apart. You can of course use it for self defense :D Well in 2016 I decided to buy another JBL Xtreme - it was on sale and I was a complete idiot for thinking they fixed the problem. It's October 2018 and I've only used the JBL Xtreme for about 50 hours in the last two years so not that much. I'm having the same issues I had with the first speaker. It turns off after an hour of playtime. After restarting, it dies after 20 minutes. I wrote to JBL support and they offered me a 10% discount on their item to fix the problem as my unit is out of warranty. They didn't even offer to bring it in for repairs, which I wouldn't do. Don't mind paying. The moral of the story is: buy a JBL Xtreme, make sure you use it, and be prepared to email JBL customer service in 11 months that your battery is probably dead. If you use it often, I bet it will die long before that. Unless you don't mind playing it plugged into a power source all the time. However, for that kind of money there are 100% better speakers here on Amazon that you plug into a power source. In summary, the JBL Xtreme is a very powerful speaker with a useless battery after a relatively short time that keeps you typing. more emails to JBL Support than to your loved ones. It's your decision.
