I tore my ACL, found out my meniscus was about gone.oh yeah, had arthritis in my knee as well (the knee joint trifecta). No wonder it hurt so much. I grabbed a pair of Ergobaum 7G crutches as soon as I tore the ACL as I couldn't walk at all. Reviews looked great and, even though they were expensive, I figured I needed something that could help me through the pre-surgery and knee replacement recovery period. It took me about 3 days to get used to using them, then I found myself walking effortlessly with these.I'm not that tall - 5'9" - but I'm a bit heavy.260. Though heavy, I'm athletic enough and have good arm strength. These crutches have the perfect amount of give in the springs and, with the rounded feet at the bottom, I find walking so easy.even when I can hardly put weight on my bad knee.I wasn't sure all the design features (seemed like gimmicks to me) were going to be all that helpful. But I was wrong. The adjustability of the cuff angle is a must. I find it very convenient to be able to fold them up when I'm not using them, mostly when I get into the car. The knee rest is good, but I haven't used it that much. The headlights are really helpful. When I get up in the middle of the night, I can flip on the headlights and navigate to the bathroom without disturbing my wife. That feature surprised me in its usefulness. The only real gimmick is the beeper. My 18 month old grandson likes it. But, otherwise, it seems pretty silly.Yup, these are expensive. But after 3 months of use, I can say with confidence that they were worth every penny.
