Who doesn't love using beautiful kitchen utensils? The lid is heavy duty stainless steel, there is no plastic liner on the bottom like my 12 oz. one. Constructed from highly durable stainless steel; this thing is strong! The sieve on the tamper is the right size - the coffee grounds do not flow out. However, after only 10 months of once-a-day use, the rubber seals covering the cap around the flask fell off. Without a seal, flushing water can penetrate into the cavity of the lid. I still think it's nice, but I've gone back to using my LaCafetiere Optima 6-Cup French Press, which is also sold at Revain - for a bit more money but it's lasted a long time.
