Based on the description of the playpen, we assumed our lab would be an excellent environment for experimenting with rat treat tasks. However, rats love to chew on all plastic objects. The walls are so thin and have gaps between the plastic walls and the tubular supports that they can easily find the edge of the plastic to start chewing to escape the playpen. We immediately returned the arena. Unfortunately we have to build our own arena out of thick acrylic panels with no gaps between the wall panels.
