Review on Epson WorkForce Wireless Supertank Ethernet by Aaron Ethridge

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very happy with printers and supplies so far

After 2 weeks of use: Basically I'm comparing this ET-3750 to our old HP8500 which was on its last legs after about 7 years. First I want to say that we (my wife and I) bought an EcoTank printer because I'm sure we spent at least $2,000 on HP cartridges and I'm just TIRED of their overpriced $100 pay tariff dollars per set. The idea was to get a new printer without sacrificing functionality. Interestingly, we paid $350 for both devices, although adjusted for inflation I think that makes the ET-3750 cheaper. I will say that I had some trouble identifying the main differences between mid-range Epson ET models when reviewing the specs for this purchase, so in this review I will identify some of the main differences. Advantages: COST AND CONVENIENCE. INK SUPPLY - Print, Scan, Copy - ADF: Since this model has an ADF (Automatic Document Feeder), it can scan and copy legal size documents. Smaller ET models do not have this ADF function. Setup was easy, although it took a bit of time as you have to go through a print alignment process that requires user input. Allow about 45 minutes for the entire setup. Since I am comparing ET to HP, ET is about 1/3 the weight. The 3750 is also about 1/3 smaller form factor than the old HP. Comes with an extra set of ink bottles (4 for initial fill and 4 for post-fill). Different color ink bottle caps are "keyed" differently, so you can't put the wrong color in the ink tank, and I really couldn't figure out how ink spills. Liquid" with some color ink during black printing; most of what we print is black and white. The paper feed and output tray are at the front, so access to the back is not required during normal operation. The lower model ( 2750) has a paper tray on the back Duplex printing on letter-size paper 2-Way Legal is a two-step process Wired (RJ45) and wireless connection Also USB - Compatible with Apple devices - Borderless printing - Es prints on light card stock - sorry I don't know the weight of my material. Maybe number 65? Not so good: the ink isn't as bright as the old HP. That's the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. (I only tried "plain" paper - maybe it works better with photo paper?) - Because the flatbed is 8 3/4" x 12" it can't scan or copy a legal sized document that it won't through . APD. The old HP's glass was >14 inches long. The device is a bit noisy - or at least more so than our old HP. — This ET-3750 model does not have a touch screen. It was the same with the old HP. This makes the user interface of the ET-3750 look a bit "clunky". Today I see (on Revain) that they have lowered the price of the 4750 (touchscreen) to the same price as the 3750. $350. :-(- No fax capability - not that I'd used that on an old machine. ET-4750 has that. - Only 1 print tray so if you want to print legally you'll need to switch paper. - To scan or both sides copy you have to feed the pages manually - No label printing Neither + nor - the print speed of the ET-3750 is not suitable for my purposes - and about the same as the old HP Overall we are very happy with the printer, although it is a bit archaic without a touchscreen works.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Nothing
