Review on πŸ”² Lutron Caseta PICO-WBX-ADAPT Translucent Wireless Wallplate Bracket for Pico Remote by Eric Rios

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not universally compatible with many faceplates

This is a really surprisingly simple and reliable system for adding a three position switch. The mounting plate couldn't be easier to install. It's well made, like all Lutron products. But it's not a cheap setup unless you compare it to the cost of paying to reconnect as an alternative. I had to remove the stars because it's not really compatible with many faceplates. Lutron Decora screwless inserts work great. This is because they have a small lip around them that hides this bracket and forces the entire assembly to sit flush with the wall. However, many pools are shallow with no ledge like mine. This creates a visible gap between the ceiling and the wall. When you tighten the mounting screws to close the gap, the mounting mechanism between this bracket and the pico causes it to flex at the bottom, causing the pico to sit unevenly on the faceplate. Everything looks sloppy for such a high quality product, and it's all based on design, not installation. I'm not entirely sure what design change would fix this without making installation more difficult. But I don't feel like they're done with those shortcomings. "Use Lutron screwless faceplates for a clean and professional install," dammit, maybe they actually say that, and I just dismissed it as marketing.
