These shoes are beautifully finished and of excellent quality. The sole is thick and protective - can definitely be used for a short walk on the river/lake etc. The underside is quite supportive. The straps are easy to adjust and tighten when needed. They're easy for my 5 year old to put on on his own and the toe pattern is printed on the sole so he can even tell which foot each shoe is worn on from the toe patterns, which I found very clever (and saves so a lot of time) to ask them to take off their shoes and change them afterwards. The straps are soft on the inside in the water.
