Review on Hydronix FLK 14 Undersink Filtration Detector by Shree Carmean

The best cost effective solution I've found

This is the second safety valve I've bought. The first was like using expansion washers to soak up water, expanding and pushing the valve train as is the case here. The problem with the other was that when I had a leak and as the disc sucked up water and as it expanded and pushed against the valve actuator, the water line pressure (from my local municipal water system) was stronger than the pressure. A spring was used to release the valve and although the actuator worked the internal water valve didn't work and I had to deal with a huge mess. This version of Hydronix seems to work fine when I turn it off manually with my finger. The spring has a lot more power and really shuts off the water when triggered. Luckily I didn't have a "real" test with another leak from the filtration system. I put my entire 7 stage filtration system in a plastic tub and installed it in a cabinet above the fridge. My leak detection safety valve is at the bottom of the pan, so in theory most leak sources should allow water to pool in the pan and shut off before it gets anywhere else. On my last (slow) leak, not only did the leak detection valve not work, but I had a slight system tilt and the water found a way to drain the main fixture outside of my tub. I also changed this when I replaced the leakage relief valve. Last note. Hydronix is the backbone of my water filtration system (by Weco). The company manufactures all filters (except UV sanitizer) and manufactures or supplies all other components. They are a top notch company in my opinion and their name on this valve also gives me more confidence.
