Review on πŸ’¨ Foredom High-Speed Rotary Micromotor Kit - K.1070 by Doris Tran

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Attention buyers

I expected a better product from Foredom. This kit has some really annoying and expensive downsides. I have worked with other micro machines and this brand was the worst I have come across. This has mainly to do with the grip. First, the kit only comes with a 3/32 collet. A lot of the basic bits I want to use are 1/8" which meant I had to pay more money straight away just to be able to use the machine. Also, the tip is designed in such a way that the front of the tip must be disassembled to change the collet. You disassemble a section with springs and delicate moving parts that can be damaged. After further research and a call to Ford, I found that to get around this problem, you can spend about fifteen to twenty dollars "each" to buy an adapter. More money and time just to be able to use this system. And it costs almost $200 to buy an extra tip. In my opinion, the Ultima and Optima brands are better. Their tips are smaller and lighter, and they don't have that awful and expensive collet problem. A Foredom rep also told me that if you buy direct from Foredom, they charge a higher price than the distributors that sell Fordom products.
