I put the first one under the table so I can see the keyboard without turning on the light in the room and there is enough light for that. in the stairwell so that I don't stumble blindly over the sacred coffee machine without turning on the light. the third went to the basement stairs to warn me in case any boogeymen or other monsters would hatch out of the spooky basement. UPDATE: Bought less than 3 months ago, 2 out of 3 are defective. The first flaw was that the spring on the batteries didn't keep the batteries connected, so the device didn't get power. The second device turns on even in the broadest daylight, which I ignored, but now 1 second after turning off, it turns on again. So I am changing my rating from 5 to 1 star.
