When I first installed it in my outdoor lamp, the bulb wouldn't come on when it got dark. I brought it in and set it up in a dark room to see if I could fix it and it worked fine in the dark room. After reinstalling outdoors, it would glow in the dark in the evening and go out in the light in the morning. Although it seemed a bit finicky at first, once I got it working it has been working flawlessly ever since. It's only been a week so I don't know how long it will be. The 9W warm white light on the gate looks beautiful at night and provides enough light to see the area without looking like a security spotlight. I love the retro style of the Edison bulb.
