Review on Iomega EGo USB 2 by Charles Palma

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Compatible with Vista and MacBook Pro

I always look at the three best ratings and the last three worst before I buy any electronics. I have to agree with everyone who rated it highly. I just bought a 250GB USB drive to make it easy to transfer files from my Vista desktop to my new Macbook Pro. Since I prefer the 200GB 7200RPM hard drive on my Mac, I intend to use the eGo for additional storage as well. I received the drive today, hooked it up to my Dell and copied over the files I would need for the Mac. I then plugged it into my Mac using just ONE USB port and instantly transferred files from eGo to my Mac, much faster than the Dell copied them. I didn't have to use the extra USB power port, but when I do, my MacBook Pro has three USB ports, two side-by-side. Hmm, interesting, plugging an extra power cord into the eGo would improve my speed even further. To address the complaints of others who don't like the fact that Retrospect has to be downloaded, Vista has its own backup program, just like the Mac. I appreciate that I don't need to download the program from eGo before using it, although I would prefer if I did need to still download the latest version. Verdict: It's very portable (about half the depth of WD), a drive with a sleek design, not to mention it comes in a variety of colors, which allowed me to color match it to my laptop. Without hesitation - I will buy more!
