Bought 2 of these for Christmas last year, one faded after a few days and then died completely. I bought 2 more to replace so have 3 in my display. Very pretty and bright hanging from a small tree in my front yard. After using similar purple lights this Halloween, I found that the plugs are not waterproof and burned out after the rain. I spliced them end to end so I had extra connectors that I removed. After taping around the earplugs (particularly the seams in the plastic on either side) and adding holes in my extension, there were no more issues. In hindsight, it must have gone wrong with a string last year and I shouldn't have thrown it away. (I didn't connect these bulbs at first so a plug and cord still worked.) I'm ordering 2 more to add to this year's display to make 5 of these because that looked good with the Halloween display. It annoys me that the price has gone up $8 since last week, but I want to make sure I get the same brand and I need to finish my presentation as soon as possible.
