***NOTE. Haven't used the device yet, do not base your purchase on this review, these are reference measurements from Survimate, Purewell and Joypur branded devices. The base unit is the same as those listed above, with the most obvious difference being the choice of pre-filter. The inner glass tube and carbon filter are universal for three brand filters. The hoses came with 2 clear o-rings of the type used in the construction of this thing and a pouch with 1 single clear o-ring to keep them folded. The O-rings attached to the end of the handle that go into the unit were pre-lubricated, although I can't tell what type. The grease is odorless and clear, leading me to suspect it might be mineral oil. The pieces of foam used as anti-slip feel cheap, sticking in place, although the edges fit snugly against the device's body and don't stand out at all. The foam itself is like a thin, hard piece of non-slip foam used in crates. The entrances and exits on the device itself are recessed, but if they hit the right direction, they'll snap. The inlet is protected by a cup. The mug itself doesn't have any markings to indicate the type of plastic, but it doesn't feel particularly durable. The mug is clear and holds about 6 ounces of liquid, it flexes thumb and forefinger pressure in the center. The internal unit, which has two different sized cylinders, is ultrasonically welded to the base, leading me to believe that it is capable of absorbing liquid when submerged. 1/4 from below into the water if the inlet is damaged (dirty water). The outlet (clear water outlet) is lowered further and protected by a transparent cup at the top. The stock of the grip is solid and light and doesn't try to break my grip, but I want to make sure it will last a long time. Not wanting to break the device, I was careful and twisted the knob a couple of times, which freed it. In custody, I'm not sure how I feel about that. I'm glad I have an emergency water filter, but I'm not entirely sure this filter will last a lifetime unless you put it in the kit and forget about it. I don't think I would leave it in my car all year round.
