Review on 🎧 StarTech.com 7.1 Channel Sound Card: High-Quality Audio Experience with PCI Express and 192KHz Sampling Rate by Kyle Ahmed

Great when it's working and not next to another card

Ever since I bought this card it has been a bit buggy and the motherboard hasn't recognized it in any PCI slot. It recently stopped working completely after being cycled with sound maybe 10 times in 4.5 months. First Review: Pros: The sound quality is excellent for the price. Works great at advertised 24bit/192kHz. at least one headphone DAC (tested: Micca OriGen+, FiiO Q1, better than DragonFly Red) Cons: If you want to use this for reference or for gaming, an external PCIe adapter is REQUIRED. This card is not EMI/RFI protected and any activity in your computer case will add noise to the analog input and output. My graphics card is next to the sound card and when something happens (video decoding, gaming) there is a very audible hiss. If you have the money you should be able to get an EMI shielded Xonar or Sound Blaster for another $20-50, they should sound at least the same or better then; If you don't mind DIY, wrap it in properly grounded EMI paper.
