Cool smart gadget - easy to integrate

What will you think next? Intelligent surge protection, right? I jumped on this one as soon as I saw it. I wanted to stop the "vampiric" power consumption of devices in the living room (TV, game consoles, BD player, etc.), but let's face it, having a traditional power supply behind or under a closet and having to bend over every time, you need to use the device is simply impractical. Because of this, having a smart plug that can control multiple devices and provide surge protection was a no-brainer for me. The basics here are that there are four AC outlets and four USB ports that can be controlled from the remote. application or planned. AC outputs can be controlled individually, and all USB ports can be controlled as one. The app has all the standard features you would expect. Just remember that schedules are called "routine" instead. I was able to set it up directly via the meross app and then just went into the Alexa app and added a new device via Add Device -> Connect -> Other. I didn't have to add any skills by doing it this way. If you also want to control individual outputs from Alexa, just rename them first in the meross app, then open them again in the Alexa app and they will be listed individually. I have three game consoles and a Blu-ray player plugged into AC outlets, and the USB ports are occupied by a FireTV flash drive, a Google Chromecast, and two USB cables for charging game controllers. I expect to leave my USB ports on most of the time and only turn on the outlets as needed, either through the app or by asking Alexa to do so. It's also better than having a bunch of separate smart plugs controlling each device. The cord is six feet long and the surge protector itself is slightly larger than a standard surge protector. It's larger in all areas, which I think is due to the wifi, controller board, and USB charger, but not so much that it's a problem for me. What a welcome addition to our ever-growing automated household.
