Surprisingly "works" is a fairly high rating in the world of modern cordless phones. At least that's how it seems from my own experience. However, this phone works, and it works pretty well. As another reviewer mentioned, there really aren't many options for dual-line 5.8GHz phones on the market. Even less if you need a built-in autoresponder (the Uniden TRU8866 mentioned in another review doesn't have one). Those were exactly the features I was looking for. So, despite the somewhat mixed reviews for this product, I took the plunge and bought it. I didn't have any sound quality issues like some of the other reviewers. Maybe my standards are just lower, but it sounds good to me. I agree that the UI is a bit clunky, especially for controlling functions on the base unit. More than once I've accidentally unchecked the answer on line 1 (which I want to answer) or checked on line 2 (which I don't want to answer). It would be much better if they had completely different on/off buttons and status indicators for each line. But to be honest, I've seen so many really terrible cordless phones that I'm actually quite happy with this one. It may be a sad state, but we're taking what we can get.
