I don't know why it costs so much

I was very happy with this product but in the end I was very disappointed. I thought wow an Italian product. could this be the ferrari of hair dryers? When I first received this the packaging was questionable for something that costs so much. Looks like a returned item. (see photos) I've bought so many hair dryers over the last few years (about 6) and while they didn't cost $200 for a hair dryer, they were well packaged and everything looked brand new to my mind. This dryer was not advertised as a refurbished product so of course I expected to get a brand new item but the cords were coiled loosely and had velcro closures, the plug did not have a plastic cap on the metal ends like all new units The casing was slightly dusty and greasy , the inside packaging is torn in a few spots and one of the lids has already been put on (none of the brand new dryers I've ever received upon arrival do this). The dryer was not in a plastic bag as is usual with new dryers and the plug was not placed under the notch of the packaging as is usual. If the seller is selling refurbished items, this should be clearly stated in the description. So in terms of packaging and description, this is one star. Now for the performance and quality of the dryer. This is advertised as a lightweight dryer, but it's not lightweight compared to all my other $20-$50 dryers. The design of the caps was also terrible - you have to use brute force to remove them once you put them on. At first I thought it was stuck or broken but my husband used brute force and it was removed. After examining the design, it appears as you remove it. There are no instructions in the multilingual manual to install/remove these plugs. For something this expensive, I would expect people to think about something this simple. I tried the dryer with both wind settings and all temperature settings. The settings allow extremely flexible use. The cold button also worked very well, while the cold buttons on most other hair dryers still blew lukewarm air. I am sure if you have very fine hair or are using it on a child this will be a useful product. As for me, I have black Asian hair, and at maximum wind speed and heat, this hair dryer doesn't dry my hair any better or faster than my cheaper hair dryers. It continued to emanate a burning smell from the inside even after a few weeks of use. I do not know what you are talking about. Dust? I like the very long cable. Final Thoughts? I would recommend a hair dryer if you don't mind the weight and need a temperature change. Otherwise it's not much better.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
