It was a rarity because I didn't think I would find such an adapter. I just bought an old Hitachi projector and didn't know there was another type of digital connection. I had never heard of the M1-D, but I had no desire to use a crappy 35ft analog VGA cable, and I certainly had no intention of using a full set of RGBHV cables ($$$). , so I ended up running an HDMI cable from my computer through a DVI to HDMI adapter to an HDMI cable to this thing, HDMI-M1-D, it works like a charm. Fully digital signal, no loss of resolution, with perfect pixel accuracy. It mentions that this connector was used in older InFocus projectors but Hitachi projectors had it too, I can say it worked although I was pretty sure it didn't.
