Functional but not very good. I sometimes use a metal magnifying glass, but I have another similar 40x magnification that works best with what I use for coins. The light in the metal magnifier is good, but the magnification is blurry around the edges, so not good for my purposes. A plastic magnifying glass is a great idea with three levels of magnification and a compact design, but the plastic makes it feel cheap. It looks like a mini ice cream sandwich. I'd like it better if it was the same collapsible design but made out of metal or at least higher quality plastic. Again, the light is good, the quality of the lens is average, but the overall feel isn't very good, although it does work well for the money. I would not buy this combo again and instead opt for a higher quality loupe with the same magnification. I plan to keep them in reserve.
