Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great harness option for multiple uses

So I have four of these harnesses that are used in different applications so I like and trust them for my fluffy babies as well as those that belong to other people I know. I'll list them below for context and then the pros and cons as I see them. 4 out of 5 stars mainly because of the price. I've seen this for as little as $8.99 but mostly $9.99 to $12.99 in US dollars. Since this often requires the purchase of additional aluminum seat belts, you'll pay around $15-$20 per seat belt. Keep in mind you need metal for climbing or industrial use as it needs to withstand a fall so they aren't cheap either. My four are used as follows: 1. As a secondary harness for a raised car seat for small dogs, also from Solvit. The black rectangular O-shaped carabiner that comes with this pet harness connects to the car's harness. A smaller Caribbean aluminum holder was added to the other end to attach to a small dog harness (6.5 to 10 lbs) that I ride regularly. Two of these dog harnesses are used in two different vehicles. The second implementation is a harness attached to a rectangular milk crate bike seat that I created for my Chiviny (1/2 Dachshund and 1/2 Chihuahua). She has typical neck/spine and knee problems common to both of her breeds. This bike seat attaches to the rear rack so she can lie down or sit down as she pleases without having to jump out. It is cynched here to its shortest length.3. The third implementation is a handlebar bicycle basket harness converted into a dog seat. This bracket is more creative and fits two different dogs and sizes. This strap attaches to either the handlebars behind the basket with a square O-carabiner or to the basket itself near the handle pivot with an aluminum S-carabiner. Both devices use an aluminum carabiner that attaches to the dog's harness. - ------------ ------------------------------------- ------- Note: The included Caribbean harness is too heavy and bulky to use with a 10 lb dog harness. My observation is that the dog feels the weight. No problem at all for dogs 20 pounds and over. I really haven't had the opportunity to observe that 10 to 15 pound range. PROs1. Easy to apply no matter what your needs are.2. Adjustable length fits dogs from Rotty (80-90 lbs) to Pomeranian (6.5 lbs) when used with the included car seat belt.3. Quality ballistic nylon belt construction and tailoring.CONS1. Expensive / Expensive for what it is - $8.99 to $9.99 when I bought mine. Competitors are cheaper but not suitable for my use.2. The original design was to pass the harness through a nylon ballistic loop and use a black carabiner to attach it to the dog's harness (not the collar - see company safety guidelines). Unfortunately, if you use a car seat, you cannot use it in this way because the vehicle's seat belt is not in the correct orientation to safely fit through the pet seat belt and dog seat. As a result, they should indeed include a second Carabinieri, at least considering the cost of that item.
