I bought this because it claimed it was dog proof. I looked at all the stuff, and it looked dog proof. It took a walk up to the mailbox and back to prove that my paralyzed in the rear dachshund can get into it really quick. He had it knocked over, with the top open, within 15 minutes.The can itself is pretty light weight. The top doesn't quite match the base, and the whole trashcan cover slides up if you need to move it. The lid has a latch, which is good. Unfortunately, the top doesn't line up with the lid very well, and it took me about 15 minutes to figure that out. You kind of have to pull the lid and push the can to make it latch. The little part that latches the lid comes taped inside the can with very translated instructions on how to put it in. It wasn't too hard to figure out.Because I bought this can to keep a dog out of it, I am going to return it and try a different one. Personally, I think this is a pretty low quality can for the money.
