Checks all the boxes

Like many people I'm working from home during the pandemic and needed a good headset at a reasonable price. Didn't want to spend over $100 on branded headphones. I tested 5 different headsets before settling on this one: 3 single ear over-ears and 2 in-ears including this one. The reasons I chose this Canambo device were as follows: 1. Multi-point pairing - I use this headset with my laptop (for video calls) and my cell phone. Almost all headsets allowed the user to pair with two different components; However, it was the only headset that not only paired, but also allowed the user to switch seamlessly between the two components without having to plug and/or unplug one to use the other. For example, if I'm listening to a Youtube video on my phone and a video call comes in from my laptop, the headset will automatically mute the YT video and answer the call from the laptop without having to do it manually. I don't have the talent or patience to switch from one to the other when needed, so the smooth transition this headset provides is invaluable and my top headset priority. At this price I really didn't think I could benefit from this feature let alone it work so well.2. Comfort - I wear this headset all day, at least 8 hours, so whatever I chose had to be comfortable. This device is surprisingly comfortable. Several sizes of ear tips were included so I tried them all and found the one that worked best. At the end of the day, the back of the ear, where the thickest part of the device rests, feels only slightly uncomfortable. I could still switch ears at this point, but it doesn't bother me too much. 3. Communication quality - no complaints. Not a single person has asked me if I'm using the headset or complained about background noise, but a disclaimer: I've only used it indoors in the office, so no wind noise or other noise competes with this headset. One of the headsets I tested made a strange buzzing noise when idle. It was so annoying and definitely put that block at the bottom of the test stack for me. No buzzing or weird noises from this device when not in use. I'm wearing it now and it's totally silent.4. Buttons - I love the independent on/off switch! This is much easier than holding down the multifunction button for more than 3 seconds to turn it on/off like most necessary devices. The buttons on the earcup are large enough to reach, but I don't use them often as I usually reach for my mouse (laptop) and/or phone to mute or adjust the volume. The holdall is a nice touch! The other device I tried didn't have a case.5. The battery life is excellent - I've used the device for over 8 hours on standby with frequent calls throughout the day for 6 consecutive days and it still shows 60% remaining capacity. At this rate, I probably only need to charge every few weeks, and it only takes a few hours to fully charge the device. Some cons: 1. Distance - I can walk about 15 feet from the source before the headset turns off. I was hoping for a better distance than this, but that could also be a function of my phone and/or laptop's Bluetooth capabilities, and not necessarily the headset itself. This model doesn't have a caller announcement, which I've come across on some headsets. This may be inconvenient for those who want to use this in a car.3. It would be nice if the charging port was covered. It would make a truly watertight block. Not a big deal as the port is on the bottom of the device and I find it difficult to get water in there while wearing it. The multipoint technology offered by this device won me over at the end of the day. For under $40 I couldn't ask for a better headset. He literally ticked all the boxes. I've only had the device for a little over a week, so I can't certify longevity, but so far so good. Remember to buy a spare in case it dies!
