We didn't use them in the luau because they're hard to open - 2 tiny rubber bands keep them closed. After you removed the elastic, they didn't just slide apart, you had to open them somehow. I opened half a dozen and one broke upon opening. It's a pity I didn't take a good half hour just to put up the umbrellas. They were very nice, but they didn't suit us.
