I've long been a fan of the Sandisk Clip Plus as the gold standard for listening to audiobooks, but this new Jam has several advantages - amazing battery life and better sound, especially if you want to go either slower or faster to listen to. Although there are only 3 speeds compared to 5-6 on a smart mobile device, they are enough for most book lovers. The same handy small size makes it ideal for on-the-go listeners who don't want to be weighed down by a larger, more expensive turntable; The price is low enough to keep a few of these little players loaded and ready to go. They charge fully in a couple of hours and then play for 12 to 15 hours depending on how loud you listen and how often the sound is paused - far longer than any mobile device I'm aware of. The downside is that longer titles don't index parts of the book in order - there's a simple workaround that involves editing the files before uploading, but it takes a few minutes. Tracks up to 15-16 characters in length play perfectly "as is" - just drag the track folder from your computer into the audiobooks folder on Jam.
