A good battery does what it promises, limited range

G200 WALKIES First of all, I understand that the price of a walkie-talkie set is low. 25.00 great price. The battery life is pretty good, I charged it and then one of the radio's batteries quickly ran out. It's my fault for not fully loading. With both radios more than half charged, battery life was exactly as advertised by the seller. What follows is that channels, volume, lights and all other buttons and accessories work perfectly! Now for the bad news: the vendor/manufacturer claims that the audio radios can drive 1 mile in town, 3 miles in the woods, 8 miles in the ocean and 16 miles up two mountain peaks. I grabbed a fully charged walkie-talkie, my wife was in the backyard, there wasn't anything near our house, and I drove to the grocery store about 1.5 miles from us. From my house to the shop it's just open fields with a few trees. Since I had all the widows in an SUV and she was 1/4 mile away out in the yard all the conversations were great just a bit of interference. By the way, I had it on channel 22 of the family radio service and on channel 14 of the CTCSS privacy code system. So at 1/2 mile our words were still clear but the hissing got a little louder. Then at 3/4 mile I pulled up, got out and tried to speak again. Most of the words came from both ends, but the noise got pretty heavy. Then I was 1 mile from home in the parking lot and 70% of the words came through but the noise was bad and loud. 1 1/2 miles has 10% of the words and the noise is unbearable. But again, they are only 25.00 and free shipping. Delivery took 26 hours when I ordered it which was fantastic. Overall, I've given it two stars so far because both take 3.5 hours to charge at the same time and still don't charge with the included batteries. Also, VOX will continue to activate without my programming. This is very annoying. Also, I don't understand that if you put the belt clip on the back of the walkie-talkie, you have to remove the clip every time you need to remove the battery cover, which is very painful. We'll be camping in Fort Stephens next week. on the northwestern tip of Oregon. So I can try them in wooded areas and on the Pacific coast. So I'll be updating this review next Friday the 14th to see if the overall star ratings are going up or down. Stay tuned to keep testing this product. The seller/manufacturer did not ask me, did not contact me and did not pay me for this lengthy review.
