I bought these so my son/daughter can walk down the street and still keep in touch with them. It's less than a mile and works great for what we need. The only issue I have is the battery life that comes with it. I use and have a number of eneloop pro batteries which work better for battery life.

I am very pleased with the performance, size and range of these radios. I mainly use them in the wilderness, canyons and river valleys to keep in touch with my fishing/hunting partners. We can communicate clearly and easily from miles away. I also like that it can work with both rechargeable AA batteries and regular AA batteries. This makes long trips into the bushes much easier.

I've always thought of buying a walkie talkie just for fun and communication when we travel. I got this when we go on a trip to New Mexico and it's easy to get lost in these big, very big national parks and caves in Carlsbad.
