What is the battery life? best radio

So we billed them for camping use three days before the trip. Two days before the trip we turned them around and tested them. I noticed that both batteries were only half charged. I thought that was weird but just thought I might have turned them off before they were somehow fully charged (they charged overnight). So I booked them back the night before our trip. Since we were in two different cars and showed up at different times, I thought it would be handy to know when the other car was on its way. I turned on the radio about an hour before I expected the second car to turn off the main road. At the 1 hour mark I was already showing that my radio had half the battery left. When our second car pulled up, the battery beeped letting me know it was dead. I have 2 hours use on my radio and about 1 minute total talk time. On the plus side we were on a ridge and were able to pick them up about 10 miles away which was nice. The closer they got to the ridge, the harder it was to reach them, but that was to be expected with all the trees. I do not recommend these walkie-talkies at all unless they are plugged in constantly to ensure the battery doesn't die. . 120 days of standby is a joke; We lost half the battery overnight when they were off. Getting only 2 hours of work with 1 minute of talk is ridiculous. They will come back and I will look for a set of radios that really last.

Pros
  • High marks for stability and durability from testers
Cons
  • Slightly torn
