Latest Rating. Good went from 5 stars to 1 star. When I first used the collar at the dog park, it stopped working. My dog digs in the pond and uses his front paws to look for submerged tennis balls. He drags them to the bank of the pond and picks them up, then takes the ball to the sandy hill and buries it. His head and neck are NOT in the water. I didn't see him swim at all. As we left the park, I heard the pipe tick. When I got home I checked the receiver. The charging port has been opened. It was never tight or even tight. There was no water or sand that I could see (even when shaken). I put the receiver in a plastic bag filled with rice for 3 days and then charged it again. Nothing. So I'm going back. I bought a PATPET with an IPX7 waterproof rating. Just take a look. past review. I used to have at least 3 reinforcement collar systems on 3 of my dogs. Each collar lasted just over a year, after which the recipient stopped holding a charge. I just got this one and it's a lot easier to sync than the others I've used. It has a power button, but the instructions don't say anything about turning it on and off with that button. None of my other receivers had a power switch, so this is new to me. The remote has room for 3 channels but I only bought 2 receivers. The receivers are a lot smaller and lighter than those I've used in the past and I love it. The nylon collar is thick and looks well made. The range seems correct. The remote control looks weird but I like all the buttons on the front. The display is quite large and bright, which is also a plus. This design is the best for my needs. I use vibration to always remind myself to "come" with a verbal cue, and I've trained the tone for emergencies. This means that when they hear that sound, they must come back to me, regardless of whether I'm speaking or making a gesture. I tend to use static for serious corrections. My caveat is that the static function (which I RARELY use) is fairly strong on longer tines, but is a bit weaker on shorter tines at the same height. I have a 55lb long gold colored Astrakhan that is set to Static 2 and my 28lb short Australian Shepherd that is set to Static 1. My Australian dog does not need either of these collars as he is a wimp and always stays with me and behaves appropriately. I'll write a review in a year. Fingers crossed, receivers are still loading.
