I bought it hoping for privacy and being able to finally do without the blinds. First of all, the first few inches of the plastic roll was very hard and wouldn't stick to the window. We had to cut and discard this part to get at the softer plastic on the reel. After that it was really easy to install. I used some soap and water in a spray bottle, used a paper towel wrapped around a credit card as a scraper, and it worked beautifully. My biggest complaint with this product is that the spacing between the matte and non-matte stripes was a bit longer than expected. It offers some privacy during the day when it's darker inside than outside. But forget the night. You still need blinds or a blackout curtain for privacy.
