Well, it turns out I forgot to give a review for the last year. I was too busy doing cool stuff and documenting it with this lens. For climbers, hikers, skiers, trekkers and adventure photographers, changing lenses is not always possible. More often than not, removing the lens from my a7ii meant exposing my sensor to dust, fog, wind, and inclement weather while climbing peaks, dangling off a cliff, photographing other climbers, or facing a 1,500-pound climber. Bison in the outback. I've typically had to switch between a wide-angle lens for my general landscape photography, a portrait lens for photographing my friends, or a telephoto lens when wildlife comes around a bend in the trail. With this lens I never have to think twice about a shot: when I have a wide perspective I can make a quick pan to capture all the splendor. If a moose jumps in front of me on the trail, I throw it up to 150mm to get a close-up. The short focal length makes macro photography easy, and the large aperture also makes low light and astrophotography no problem. I've been shooting with this lens for the last year and it has never left my camera except for the occasional cleaning. To be honest, I can't afford high-end portrait, telephoto, and wide-angle lenses. That being said, even if I could, I don't know if I would spend the money unless I absolutely needed specific lenses for professional studio/field use. A specialty lens costs $1,000-$2,000, this one costs about $800 and does the job of three of these lenses together, if not as well, but comparable. With this lens I have a professional quality self-contained photo module that occupies a bowler-sized space in its body, fits easily into the camera and lens, comes with batteries, charger, cleaning kit, SD cards and a set of filters. All inclusive, it fits in my hiking gear, fits in my backpack, fits in my climbing gear and can be ready in my car when traveling. If I had to sum it up in one sentence; a jack of all trades and a jack of all trades, but a jack of all trades is better than one.
