Review on Cleaner Laundry Stain Lifter Ounce by Andrea Smith

Excellent results on really intricate and delicate needlework

I recently got over my years of anxiety and decided to clean up two cross stitch pictures on Aida canvas/anchor floss that I made 40 years ago. . They just lay in a box, with no frame. One part had general scuffing/staining and the other had everything plus some horrible rust spots in many places. I chose Goop because it doesn't contain bleach that will stain the threads, so I did the following: First, following her instructions, I smeared a little Goop into chunks and gently rubbed them into a dry cloth. I added a few more times throughout the day. About a day later, I rinsed off the first applications thoroughly, used smooth dish towels to flatten and dry the cloths, then carefully added more Goop while the Aida was damp (rubbing very gently with a finger). After a few iterations the stains and especially the rust were faded but still bad so I repeated the whole process but what followed was a week of soaking the Goop glued pieces in about 1/2 inch of Goop-y water became. The result - after a week the less damaged part was perfect. But the rust-stained piece needed (only) about a month of long-term gentle care and lengthy soaking. Finally the rust is gone and there is only a 1/4 inch grayish circle that is completely unstainable (which is hidden by the carpet in my frame). The colors of my Anchor embroidery floss are much lighter than when I started the cleaning process. To be honest they look like I just took them out of the box last week. On both articles. Considering the age and delicacy of the fabric/thread and the amount and type of dirt accumulated on it, I couldn't be happier. great product
