I've bought 5 Passport portable hard drives in the last 5 years and I love them! I keep refilling them and then I get more! They do not require an external power source and simply connect to a laptop or computer with the included USB cable. I use them to clean my laptop and our phones for optimal performance. They're small enough and convenient enough to just pop in and use. I would like to give a warning: if you use a multiport USB hub with it, use it with a power adapter. One of my passes failed using a cheap little 4 port hub (with 2 other passes plugged in) with no power supply and one of the passes kept going from plugged in to unplugged from the computer eventually ruining the device. I managed to hire a forensic expert to recover my files, but not everyone knows who is doing it! I have since bought a full 7 port hub for home use (Crux 3.0 hub) and can efficiently organize my photos from one pass to another and easily connect 3-4 passes. Another thing, I prefer not to get more than 1TB. I bought a 2TB and after it is about half full the transfer speed drops sharply. I'll spend just a little more and each will be 1TB or less for efficiency.
