I have 3 piercings and a curl on my left ear, two piercings on my right. I like the earrings, but I don't like taking them on/off every day and the default studs make them uncomfortable to sleep in (I've been told I'm an "animated sleeper" so maybe that's just me). It's really great if you're looking for something to pocket and practically forget about. The flat threaded base is secure and relatively easy to insert. The sizes are ideal for multiple holes, plus they are star-shaped. He's closer to 16G than 18-20, so if he just wore regular earrings, be prepared for ear crusts and/or awful ear cheese. Anyone who has other piercings knows what I'm talking about. But don't worry. , it will go away in a few days and I have had them for 2 years now. Sometimes I take them out to clean/soak.
