Based on other positive reviews I was very excited to get this scarf. As soon as I received the package, there was a strong smell of perfume/detergent/fabric softener. Nowhere on the list does it say it's pre-washed or flavored. I thought it might be from the packaging so I took off my scarf. It turns out that the thing is in the scarf and not just in the bag and in the package. Everything that touches the cloth ends up smelling. Even my hands are covered in some sort of oily smell that's hard to wash off after touching the cloth. Looks brand new but smells very old. If you like fabric softener/laundry/perfume smells that are difficult to get rid of then this is a very soft and thick scarf perfect for winter. But if you or someone in your household is sensitive to fabric softener, you might get a rash and you're expecting a brand new fragrance-free scarf, this might not be for you. I'd rather smell cashmere or wool than a suffocating permanent fabric softener/linen smell.
