So far so good. Open the sensor to turn it on. The hold button is a bit confusing. & I'm not sure how long to press on it exactly to set the hold. I think it's just a short press. Also, it needs to be calibrated in ice water, but there are instructions for that. Aside from not being all that intuitive, just picking it up and using it really is a great little probe. Fast reading. And that after a short time. Probably waterproof/water-repellent. I'm not going to dunk it just to find out lol. In addition, the "instantaneous" temperature reaches the actual hot oil temperature in a few seconds. Like 1030. But it's much faster than the old glass thermometers. And in meat, in general, it is almost instantaneous. I like it. Still 5 stars, especially for the price!
