I just bought a 2-bay TerraMaster D2 DAS with Thunderbolt 3. I also have two brand new 4TB WD RED NAS drives and am using them in single drive mode. My laptop is a Dell XPS 13 (9370) with better specs. I wasn't expecting the read/write speeds to be shockingly impressive with these 5400RPM drives, especially in single drive mode, but I was expecting something more impressive. Unlike other reviewers, I've had the same results with the originally included TBT3 cable and the CableMatters certified TBT3 cable. The DAS doesn't charge my laptop, although the 13-inch Dell XPS isn't overly power hungry and its original PSU is only 45W - I've just discovered that it's only putting out 15W. Hopefully, when the time comes and NAS-certified SSDs become more affordable, the device will become an impressive TBT3-DAS.
