solid value. for hard drive housing

Solid! The thing is heavy and well made and has a good grip. I get read and write speeds of just over 500MB/s in RAID-5 with 7200RPM drives, making it faster than my newly purchased SSD but with some fault tolerance. The cable that came with the unit also didn't fit me, but I wrote to TerraMaster and they immediately sent a branded replacement. Very happy. UPDATE: Turns out my block got messed up. However, they sent me a replacement fairly quickly and it works great so I still stand by it. I…

Doesn't work for me.

I couldn't mount it for the rest of my life. For some reason TerraMaster used the HighPoint Raid Management software for this particular item, which makes absolutely no sense to me. Seemingly simple instructions are in fact unnecessarily complicated. I really wanted it to work. It's beautifully built. Experience with the older brother of the USB 3.0 version, which worked like clockwork, gave me confidence in this purchase. But after 2 hours of troubleshooting and not being able to mount drives…

It works but not that fast

I just bought a 2-bay TerraMaster D2 DAS with Thunderbolt 3. I also have two brand new 4TB WD RED NAS drives and am using them in single drive mode. My laptop is a Dell XPS 13 (9370) with better specs. I wasn't expecting the read/write speeds to be shockingly impressive with these 5400RPM drives, especially in single drive mode, but I was expecting something more impressive. Unlike other reviewers, I've had the same results with the originally included TBT3 cable and the CableMatters certified…

Poor write performance from single or RAID-0 Samsung 850 Pro SSDs

This TD2 Thunderbolt 3 does not offer the expected write performance. When writing to a single 850 Professional SSD (256MB), I got about 120MB/s. Using the same drive via a single USB 3.0 connection resulted in write speeds of >240MB/s. The test was conducted using a single 5GB ZIP file. Using the test software also showed that I couldn't get the write performance I expected. Read performance was closer to the mark. Using it with two 85O Pro in either hardware RAID 0 mode or Windows RAID…
