Even the screws for this bracket were smaller! I had already marked the area for the old bracket so I knew exactly where the studs were. I didn't use any of the old holes, instead lowering it an inch because the latter placed the TV so close to the projection screen that it obscured the TV a bit. The old bracket went through three bolts at the top and bottom. This one only goes through two. I went center and right instead of center and left and I think it worked really well for me. The TV isn't really centered between the two surround speakers, but I could push and shift it out a bit if I really wanted to. It does not bother me. I love that I was able to tilt it much easier and it eliminates glare when watching TV. In addition, the full back and tilt STILL allows my automatic projection screen to lower straight without assistance! It is great! It attaches better to the wall than my previous one, it was easier to place it on the support because they suggest extending it and I didn't want to argue! It was a little nerve wracking to let go and look behind to make sure it was hooked properly and then tighten the screws to keep it from moving. *Tip: keep a screwdriver in your back pocket if you're doing it alone, and be careful not to bump into the corner. Depending on how tight your screws are behind this thing, you could accidentally cause your TV to slide right off the mount and send it onto the floor! I'm all for flipping back and forth, and that diagonal? I can imagine how comfortable it is from the back if I hadn't gone to great lengths to ensure I installed it perfectly level. * I tightened a couple of screws in the back with the wrench that came with it. I was ready. If you use a digital stud finder and mark the left and right sides of the stud and make sure the drill bit hits the stud I don't see any problems. I would like to point out that while it will fit most 37-85 inch TVs, it's not so much because of the VESA mounting holes on the back of the TVs, but because of the weight of your TV. If your TV is ten years old and five times heavier than new TVs, you really should look at the "holds 88 pounds" part of the description. I was able to lift my 55 inch TV easily, so I know it weighs less than 88 pounds. I know lifting 88 pounds will be difficult for me! It's all over and done and I'm happy with the end result! It looks almost the same as it did with the old mount, but now I have the option to take the TV out and tilt it to another room if needed. Eventually it will be set up so you can enjoy the wood burning stove and it might be nice to have the TV on you to enjoy! He's nice and strong and doesn't look like he'll cause me any problems in the future!
