Misunderstood boot. If I wanted to buy Red Wings or any other branded boot in the $300-$350 range, I would buy them. - Serious work boots in the $150 range If you're a shoe shredder, these aren't for you. Wearing around the house and shopping, good ankle support at age 66 makes them almost perfect. I recently retired. and nothing more permanent than this is needed. I only bought them for two reasons. Better support than sneakers and a hipster look that seems to be so popular. If I get 3-4 years of good comfortable service from them and wear them an average of 3-4 hours a day then these boots are well spent. If they disappoint or exceed my expectations, I'll mention it here in an update. Red Wings or other commonly resold $40/year premium branded boots are not serviceable. Their crepe soles no longer serve the IME. Pros of boots: Extremely comfortable. The leather is soft but not soft and is easy to put on and take off as the leather flexes a bit. Fits well in the top of the bow. Width corresponds to the norm, nothing sticks and does not slip. The heel cup and arch will become comfortable after wearing about 5 times. There is enough space in the toe area, but at the same time casual. Cons: Size 13 runs a bit large. Although I'm close, the thicker toe box makes them perfect. The summary is simple, these boots fit great, are comfortable after a few weeks and look great now that I'm retired at a reasonable price. Just as important as strength in my new life. Update 05/23/2021: I've been wearing them for 6 months and about 150 hours now. Still my pick for daytime wear. These are very comfortable boots. The soles show only slight signs of wear and have not yet had to be polished. Minor abrasions are erased well with my kiwi horsehair brush. The skin is still soft and supple, but well supported. These boots get lots of compliments. Find out.
