Review on ๐Ÿ”ช 8-Inch Chef's Knife: Victorinox Fibrox Pro, the Ultimate Choice for Chefs by Christine Brown

There's a reason he's so popular. Probably the best knife you will ever buy.

I was a pretty serious hobby cook for several years until I finally decided to get a decent knife for the job. I enjoyed eating good food, but most of the time the process seemed difficult. Most of the time when chopping/cutting, my arm would get tired and I would often get blisters from the power of the handle and the pressure I had to put on the blade. With Fibrox Pro the difference was day and night. I looked for recipes that required more ingredients to be cut. Working with the right tool makes work much more enjoyable. What I like about this knife: It's a thinner blade which makes it easier to cut, handle and sharpen. It also means it doesn't last as long as the blade, but as someone who uses this knife extensively 3-5 times a week it may take me about a month before I want to sharpen it to the point where I can shave slices of tomato with one hand. And although the handle may look like rough plastic with poor ergonomics in the photos, it feels very comfortable in the hand. The blade's sharpness allows for an easier grip and less strain on your hands, even when butchering whole poultry or slicing tough vegetables like squash. And one of the best things about this knife is the price. I've seen it fluctuate between $35 and $48. Last Christmas I bought four more of these for friends and family. They all love their knives as much as I do. My only real complaint is all the abrasion on the side of the blade from my sharpening. It could be an issue with the steel or an issue with the way I sharpen it, either way it's just cosmetic. Some people like their well-worn blades. If I ever want to replace it, although it would be very cheap to do so. If you're a home cook or know one, this is probably the cutest kitchen upgrade a budding chef can get. I also suggest completing the set with one of these. You can find plenty of medium to large sized bamboo cutting boards for $20 here, as well as a 1000/6000 grit Japanese combo sharpening stone that you can use to sharpen yourself.
