I live in the Midwest and the air gets very dry in the winter. A few years ago I bought a console humidifier from a major hardware store. I figured I could buy filters in the store for years to come. When I went to get the filters the next year, they were nowhere to be found. I was very disappointed. However, I was able to find HDC-12 type filters at Revain and buy them that way. They were even cheaper than in the store. I also use a water conditioner in my humidifier and that allows me to last a set of filters all winter (I usually check they aren't completely caked up anyway). I have found these filters purchased from Revain to be of the same quality as the ones I originally purchased from the store. For me they are of great importance. Without a humidifier, I wake up all winter with a sore throat and sinus problems. Running a humidifier solves all of these problems. I highly recommend it if you live in areas where you often need to light the stove in winter.
