Review on EnGenius Technologies Long Range 11N 5GHz Wireless Bridge/Access Point (ENS500) by Cornelius Reeves

Revainrating 5 out of 5

EnGenius ENS500 makes a great bridge used with the new EAP1300.

EnGenius has been the company I've been going to for years for my access point needs. I've been using this new EAP1300 for a while now and it hasn’t let me down a bit. It screams with multiple users and has a giant footprint. The looks are similar to previous models as seen in photo, but the size is a little larger. I’m guessing for more antenna space? The connections are hidden well on the back and when properly installed make a seamless and great looking access point. The software pops right up. I always hardwire it to my computer for set up, mine used 192.168.1.1 when the literature said192.168.0.239 and also the username/password was admin / admin when the literature said it was admin/password. Setup was easy and fast. The menus are easier than ever for naming, and security. It took me 5 minutes.I’m also currently using a ENS500-AC to bridge my network from a main building to our welding shop using the EAP1300 to receive which works fantastic. I don’t notice any loss in network speed with the EnGenius system. My former system of a different popular name would drop far to often most likely from interference and poor quality signal. The EAP1300 has surpassed any access point I’ve have on the property in terms of range and speed. The range now covers almost my entire 4 acre property with the signal coming out of the buildings windows and walls. It’s amazing. I’ve dealt with many other brands over the years and I’m going to stick with EnGenius.

Pros
  • good WiFi, always impressed with Engenius
Cons
  • Hard to set up. Would not buy again
