I'm a natural light blonde with LOTS of grey. I've been dying my hair light to medium ash blonde for a while now. I tried a new brand of hair dye and it didn't look like the box at all - it was dark brown and looked very unnatural on me. I've made similar mistakes before and in this case I used Color Oops. It worked for some, but I wasn't happy with the results, so I decided to try Vanish this time. I have very short hair so I only used half and mixed half a bottle of 1 and half a bottle of 2 into a spare bottle of hair color. . This thing really stinks and it stings my skin a bit - not as bad as a chemical peel, but a little more than rubbing alcohol. (The burning sensation was gone once the mixture was washed off and there was no more redness.) It worked great. THIS IS IMPORTANT AND ANSWERS SOME OF THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS I SEE ON THE INTERNET ABOUT COLOR REMOVER: When I finished my hair was not exactly the same color as my natural color because Vanish ONLY REMOVES DYEING, DOES NOT BLEACH OR 'LIGHTENING' COLOR CAN REVERSE. This is part of the coloring process with many hair dyes unless you opt for medium to dark. non-bright color range. Almost anything in light colors will have some lightening. Anyway, after Vanish I just used some toner (purple in this case) in the developer and got a pale ash blonde. I left it like that for a while but eventually went back to dark ash blonde and went back to a brand that worked for me! As mentioned in other reviews, you will need a developer for post-processing. 10 volumes recommended. I used a diluted (50/50) volume of 20 as 20 was what I had on hand and it worked well. I'm very satisfied with this product. Deducting one star because the price is high, especially for what you get. At this price, the bottles could be a bit bigger and a bottle of the same size with 10 vol. developer should be included. How difficult is it to create a complete set? :/
