Overall I really like this system in terms of looks and space saving. However, I don't like the functionality of the system, when the gate is completely closed it can be pushed like a swing gate and this can damage the fastening material. I know this because I have young children and they tried to open it to survive. Because of this I moved the lock hardware to the bottom of the gate and left the deadbolt on top to be more secure. I would not recommend this as a safety barrier for pool access, just for safety with young children. You also need to make sure that the distance between the railing and the ground matches the direction of this gate. Otherwise it will cause you problems. You will most likely need to make modifications to make it fit your railing. Also, mounting screws rust fairly quickly when exposed to the elements. I solved this problem with Rustoleum Black Paint. With all these slightly negative statements, I bought three of these systems because there aren't many other options and I like the look. So take it how you want. I'm not thrilled with this system and wouldn't recommend it to young children, but I like it aesthetically. hp The instructions will confuse you but when you're done you'll look back and say it wasn't that bad lol.
