I'm a new customer so don't know what came before the new improved formula. However, I confirm that this product is a chemical/perfumed product. In the past, when we just cleaned with soap and water, that "pet smell" lingered. After using this product, the "pet smell" disappeared. I soak up the accident, then spray and wipe and then apply another light coat on top to let it air dry. The smell of pets is gone, but the scent is quite strong. After the perfume smell is gone, the pet smell is still gone. I look forward to them bringing back the original formula so I can try it without all the perfume!
