Review on πŸ“Έ YONGNUO YN685: High-Speed Wireless Flash Speedlite for Nikon DSLR Cameras by Todd Mamat

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Fragile design compared to previous models but works as expected

Fragile design even compared to previous YONGNUO flashes. The flash is not put together as well as the previous version I own (568EXII). The LCD screen isn't that clear and the LCD backlight wasn't working properly when I first used it, I had to smack it lightly with my right hand to get the backlight to work now. When the flash fires at full power, I hear a metallic ringing in the flash. This ringing is also present on the previous model, but now louder. It doesn't come with a diffuser dome like the other versions sold on Amazon. A drop in build quality is expected as the Flash shares the same specs as previous versions and adds a slave radio feature for the same price. The rest of the flash works. as expected and the slave radio works fine with the Y22N controller. I still recommend this product for an external flash ONLY when working with YONGNUO triggers and controllers. If you use triggers from other brands, I strongly recommend buying an older version.
