The spoon goes into ice cream like a warm knife through butter. Easiest way to scoop ice cream I've ever seen. It feels solid like it will never break. The only small catch is that it cannot be washed in the dishwasher. It doesn't matter because its shape is so simple that it's easy to clean by hand. (A roommate put it in the dishwasher and it worked fine and it still works just as well as it did before. I'm not sure why this can't be washed in the dishwasher but as the manufacturer says it can't, I won't.) Another note: I've had this for a few months and it's starting to get darker all over, like some kind of bloom. I don't know what it is, but it still works fine.
